 Product Description

Shawls and Wraps in pure wool with designs of antique paisley are very popular in India, just in the way silk wrap are popular in the west. It may be for the simple reason that they go very well with some Indian dresses like saree and salwar kameez. It may also be because these stoles in earthy shades like maroon, green & sand are preferred colors of many Indians. In recent times Jamawar wool stoles have been very popular also in the west, gradually replacing silk pashmina.
For its price, a jamawar outerwear is very elegant & comfortable too. Designs have been borrowed from famous paisley scarves. These scarves are meant for every day wear, both casual & formal.

Apparel and crafts from the northern states of India of Kashmir, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh comprise of many charming products. Outerwear is one of the most important products woven by the artisans of this region. The jamawar design is a special floral pattern, which resembles the mango fruit. Historically, it was made by hand and some stoles took several years to complete. The task of creating a jamawar shawl is complicated as the designs on these outerwear stoles are realized not by embroidery but by the simultaneous weaving with wool shuttles of different colors. These shuttles known as kaani in the local language gives Jamawar another name kaani. The wool being delicate, it is essential to use hands instead of machine and that requires enormous patience of the weavers among all the other qualities. Due to the enormous effort put in weaving and the amount of time it requires to be completed, the prices of the real Jamawar stoles are very high in the market since the old times. These outerwear stoles were so special that they often made the exclusive royal gifts to the foreign guests. They were also in vogue in many parts of Europe mainly as they held close resemblance to the Paisley Pattern.

Indian Clothes as defined in Wikipedia

Sari
A sari / saree is the traditional female garment in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka. A sari is a very long strip of unstitched cloth, ranging from four to nine metres in length, which can be draped in various styles. The most common style is for the sari to be wrapped around the waist, with one end then draped over the shoulder baring the midriff. The sari is usually worn over a petticoat (pavada/pavadai in the south, and shaya in eastern India), with a blouse known as a choli or ravika forming the upper garment. The choli has short sleeves and a low neck and is usually cropped, & as such is particularly well-suited for wear in the sultry South Asian summers. Cholis may be "backless" or of a halter neck style. These are usually more dressy with a lot of embellishments such as mirrors or embroidery & may be worn on special occasions.Women in the armed forces, when wearing a sari uniform, don a half-sleeve shirt tucked in at the waist.

Lehenga, choli, & odhani
The women of Rajasthan & Gujarat often wear colorful swirling skirts called lehenga, paired with a short bodice called a choli. If they must cover their heads, they do so with bright veils called odhani.

Tribal styles
Tribal styles vary greatly, but usually correspond with the same styles as salwaar kameez, choli, & other Indian dress.
